Where to get free stuff for your birthday
It’s my Birthday month! And I’m going to milk it for all it’s worth. After all I am the self-proclaimed Queen of free stuff. This knowledge comes with years of discovering new deals and much trial and error. The following list have all been tested and confirmed by me personally.
- Starbucks – I am a huge Starbucks fan. Especially since they came out with the iced caramel cloud macchiato (perhaps thee perfect coffee drink IMO). Therefore, this one tops my list. I tell people to join the rewards program and download the app just to get a free birthday drink. Fine print: OK so technically you do have to make at least one purchase each year before your birthday to qualify for the free reward. And you have to sign up for the rewards program at least 7 days prior to your birthday (my first year I signed up the day after my birthday, bummer). Must be redeemed on your birthday, but you can order any food or drink item on the menu. Obviously go for the Venti, it is your birthday after all.
P.S. Starbucks changed their rewards program recently and I’m not mad at it. There are now more point tiers and options for different types of rewards at lower levels. I am a sucker for the iced lemon loaf (try it!) and I can get one for just 50 stars!
- Denny’s – I don’t run into very many people who know about this one. And it’s one of the best ones IMO! Denny’s offers a free Grand Slam on your birthday. That’s a 4 item breakfast of your choice. Fine Print: Must be redeemed on your birthday. Must show drivers license for age (18 or older) and birth date. Denny’s does have a rewards program that mentions a birthday reward but in my experience you don’t have to be signed up to get the birthday deal. They have only every asked me for my drivers license.

- Sephora – Free sample size gift. I have always been pleased with the gift options from Sephora. This year (for May) the options were 2 samples from Drunk Elephant or 3 samples from Kat Von D. I chose Drunk Elephant. Fine Print: Sign up for their rewards program.
- Ulta – Free sample size gift. The gift changes each month and you get what you get (no options). I feel like I have gotten mascara several times. This year I received a sample size white mascara primer. I’m not complaining, I’ll use it, but Sephora has the superior gift if you can only choose one. Fine Print: Join their rewards program. Receive email and print coupon or show on phone.
- Red Robin – Free burger and unlimited fries. Fine Print: Be a part of their rewards program. Can not be combined with any other deals – they had a free appetizer deal going on when we went but I asked about using both and the answer was no.
- Dunkin Donuts – Free any size beverage. I don’t go to Dinkin’ very often, I’m more of a Starbucks girl (see above), but you can’t argue with free coffee. Fine Print: Join DD Perks rewards program. Excludes cooler beverages.

- CVS – Free nail polish. This is the first year I have redeemed this one. I received an email with a coupon for a free Pop-arazzi nail polish. I was not familiar with this brand prior, but what better way to try something than to try it for free? Fine print: Sign up for an ExtraCare card.

- LovelySkin – $5 coupon. Full disclosure: this was the first time I ordered from this website and it was only because of the sweet deal I got. I ordered an item that was already on sale, got $5 off, free shipping, and 2 free samples. So I ended up spending around $12 (technically not free), but it was worth it to me and I was very pleased with the deal I got. Fine print: Sign up for their rewards program.
- Nothing Bundt Cakes – Free bundtlet. I love the bundt cakes from this place. I often recommend them to people. Whenever they have a BOGO deal I usually take advantage. The bundtlet size is a perfect individual size. Stick a candle in it and make a wish! Fine Print: Join rewards program.

- Jersey Mike’s – Free regular sub and fountain drink. Fine Print: Join email club and enter birthday. Must confirm email subscription at least 24 hours before your birthday. Receive email coupon that doesn’t expire for a year (! – unheard of!).
