Natural deodorants

Natural deodorants

I am a stinky individual, just ask my husband. In college I used the clinical strength stuff and applied it at night so that it would block my pores and prevent sweat and stink. Well, when I got pregnant I wanted to switch to a more natural option. I have tried several store brand “natural deodorants” and have yet to be blown away by any. I recently came across something completely different than anything I’ve tried so far and I’m hooked!

It is called Pit Liquor deodorant. So…the name itself is awesome. Say it out loud, it’s edgy and funny, marketing genius, I love it! 10/10 on the name alone. It is made with real alcohol and the concept is that it kills the bacteria that causes stinky odor. Think of it as hand sanitizer for your pits. I really like it. I put it on after I shower and let it dry. It comes in a spray bottle or a roller bottle, both are glass and reusable. I actually have both and kinda prefer the spray bottle surprisingly. They have several scents to choose from including seasonal and limited edition scents. I have tried the whiskey lavender and the coconut rum with lime. I bought a refill bottle of the coconut rum with lime. They seem to lean towards more unisex scents, meaning not a lot of flowery scents. Instead scents like cedar, black pepper, and even a coffee one. They just announced a pineapple whiskey that I am very interested in but not until I go through my current refill bottle.

Ok, real talk, I like the concept of it and I do feel like it works but I was missing more of a stick or cream deodorant. Something I apply that is a little more substantial and I feel like lasts. The alcohol dries and is gone and I feel a little bare. Less stinky, but bare.

I currently have a cream deodorant from Little Seed Farm that the jury is still out on. I like the scents – I am currently using the charcoal one and it smells very minty and fresh. The application is different, it comes in a jar and you have to use your fingers or purchase their bamboo applicator. I am kind of a sucker so I do have the applicator and it’s not bad. My biggest concern with this brand is staining. I had a particularly hard/sweaty night at work and my scrub top had dark/oily staining in the pits. Not cool. So I am still testing it out. Trying things like, applying when I sleep before work (I care less about staining my sleep shirts), and finding the right amount to apply (maybe excess caused the staining). Overall, I am finishing what I have a possibly moving on to something else. Side note: they do offer samples to try. This is a good way to try it for yourself and find a scent you like on the cheap.

I have my eye on Bravo Sierra next. It advertises being stain-free. Worth a try.

Do you have a favorite natural deodorant that works? I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.
