Painted door art
Several years ago, at an old job, I discovered that you can use acrylic paint to decorate glass. It stays fairly well (beware of direct rain), most of the colors show up vibrantly, and is easily removable with water, windex, or can be scraped off. When we bought our house I noticed that the front screen door isn’t a screen at all, it’s glass. I immediately recognized it as a blank slate. It’s amazing the things you find inspiration in! Here are the three I’ve done so far. One for Sullivan’s birthday party, pumpkins for last fall, and a snowman for last winter.
I try to come up with something that I can leave up for a while. So I chose a snowman instead of writing “Merry Christmas”, and didn’t feel bad when it stayed through January. Pinterest is a great resource for artwork. I am working on my art skills, especially painting on such a large scale. It just makes our house a little more festive IMO. What do you think? Give me some suggestions of what to paint next!
